What it is
What Is Stippling?
Stippling is a permanent texture applied directly to the polymer of a pistol frame. Instead of slip-on sleeves or grip tape that wear out and shift, the grip surface itself is textured so your hand locks in — with sweaty hands, gloves, or under recoil. It is one of the most noticeable upgrades you can make to how a polymer pistol shoots.
We offer two methods. Hand stippling uses a heated tip to build the texture one point at a time, giving a traditional, organic look that can be as aggressive as you want. Laser stippling burns a precise, repeatable pattern into the frame for a clean, uniform texture and crisp borders. Either way, you choose the coverage, pattern and how grippy the final surface is.

Our process
How Stippling Works
1
Plan the Layout
We agree on the method, pattern, borders and coverage, and mark the layout on the frame.
2
Strip the Frame
The frame is fully stripped so nothing in the fire-control group is exposed to heat.
3
Stipple
The texture is applied by hand or by laser, following the agreed layout and depth.
4
Clean & Reassemble
The frame is cleaned, reassembled and function-checked before you’re notified for pickup.

Questions
Stippling FAQ
Common questions about our stippling service. More answers on the FAQ page.
How much does stippling cost?
Stippling starts at $100. The final price depends on the method (hand or laser), how much of the frame is covered and whether you want a custom pattern or border. Request a quote and we’ll respond within 24 hours.
How long does stippling take?
Most stippling jobs are completed in 5–7 business days. We’ll confirm a timeline when we approve your quote.
Is stippling permanent?
Yes. Stippling reshapes the polymer itself, so it cannot be undone. That is also why it holds up far better than grip tape or sleeves. If you’re not sure how aggressive you want the texture, we recommend starting a little lighter — we can always make a texture more aggressive later, but not less.
Which pistols can be stippled?
Any pistol with a polymer frame — Glock, Sig Sauer P320 and P365 grip modules, Smith & Wesson M&P, Springfield XD and Hellcat, Walther, CZ P-10, Taurus and most others. Metal-framed pistols are not candidates for stippling but can be laser engraved or Cerakoted for texture and grip.
Will stippling void my warranty or affect reliability?
Because stippling modifies the frame, most manufacturers consider it a cosmetic modification outside the factory warranty. Properly done stippling only affects the outer grip surface — the frame rails, pin holes and fire-control area are not touched, so reliability is unaffected. We strip the frame before working on it so no internal parts are exposed to heat.
Hand stippling or laser stippling — which should I pick?
Hand stippling gives a traditional, organic texture and lets us go as aggressive as you want. Laser stippling gives a precise, uniform pattern with crisp borders and is a great choice for a clean, modern look or a lighter, carry-friendly texture. Tell us how you use the pistol and we’ll recommend one.
