The Story Behind Rock House Firearms

Read about how Rock House Firearms came to be, what drives us, and why we’re proud to serve East Texas.

With over 20 years in law enforcement and more than 15 years teaching firearms and tactics, I’ve spent my career on the front lines — both in the field and in the training room.  Along the way, I’ve worked alongside like-minded professionals who recognized the same thing: there are real gaps between the training and equipment available to law enforcement and the community.

Over the last decade, that shared mission led us to develop curriculum designed to bridge those gaps — practical, real-world training built on experience, not theory.

Rock House Firearms is the next step in that journey. More than a gun shop, it’s a resource — a place where everyone has access to the same quality of equipment, knowledge, and guidance that professionals rely on.  Whether you’re a first-time buyer or a seasoned shooter, my goal is simple: to make sure you have what you need and the knowledge to back it up.

— Brad Davis, Owner

The name Rock House Firearms isn’t random — it’s a conviction.

It comes from a parable in Matthew 7:24, where two men build houses.  One builds on sand — it looks fine until the storm comes.  The other builds on rock.  When the winds and rain hit, it stands.  The difference wasn’t the house.  It was the foundation.

Look closely at our logo — a house standing in the middle of a storm with a wolf at the door.  That’s intentional.  Every detail means something.

We live in a time where tragedy is followed almost immediately by reaction.  Emotions run high, feelings are raw, and lawmakers and the public alike reach for solutions that feel right in the moment.  But feeling right and being right are two very different things.  When we build policy, opinion, and action on an emotional foundation — on sand — we may feel like we’re solving something.  But the next storm will come, and if the foundation was never addressed, it will all come down again.

This truth has echoed through history in more ways than one.

Centuries after the parable was written in Matthew, humanity found itself telling the same story again — this time around a fireplace, to children who needed to understand it in simpler terms.  Three little pigs, each building a house.  One of straw, one of sticks, one of stone.  And as long as everything was fine, everything was business as usual — the sun was out, the days were calm — all three houses were fine.

Then the wolf shows up.  Then the storm shows up.

The house of straw?  Gone.  The house of sticks? Gone.  But the house of stone — the one built with intention, with effort, with the right materials on the right foundation — that one stood.  Not because it looked better.  Not because the pig who built it had more resources or more time.  But because when it mattered, the foundation held.

That wolf, that storm, shows up in all of our lives.  In fact one of the few guarantees in this life is that the wolf WILL show up.  Sometimes it’s a stranger at the door in the middle of the night.  Sometimes it’s a policy that strips away your ability to protect yourself and your family.  Sometimes it’s a society that has spent so long reacting to storms with feelings instead of facts that it forgot how to build anything that lasts.

Real change — lasting change — only happens when you address the root.  When you fix the foundation.

That’s the philosophy behind Rock House Firearms.  We believe an informed, trained, and properly equipped civilian community is a stronger and safer one.  Not because of how it looks on the surface, but because of what it’s built on — knowledge, responsibility, and truth.

The wolf is always out there.  There is always another storm blowing in.  The question is, what’s your house made of?

We’re here to help you build on something solid.
