How an FFL Transfer Works
1. Buy your firearm
Purchase from any online retailer, auction site, or out-of-state dealer. At checkout, choose Rock House Firearms as your receiving FFL.
2. Send them our license
Most retailers already have us on file. If not, our FFL number and ship-to address are on our Contact page, or email us and we will send a signed copy of our license to the seller the same day.
3. We call you when it lands
The moment your firearm arrives and is logged in, we contact you to set up a pickup time. Visits are by appointment so you never wait around.
4. Paperwork and pickup
Bring your ID, complete ATF Form 4473, and we run the NICS background check. Most checks clear instantly and you walk out with your firearm. The transfer fee covers all of it — no hidden charges.
Transfer Fees
$30 per firearm for a standard transfer, $20 for active or retired military and first responders (bring your ID or credentials). $50 for NFA items such as suppressors and short-barreled rifles shipped to us from another dealer, which covers the dealer-to-dealer Form 3 paperwork and your electronic Form 4 with fingerprints and photo taken here in the shop. There is no transfer fee on anything you buy from our own online store and pick up here. We also offer a $50 Form 1 service for customers building their own SBR or suppressor — electronic fingerprints, photo and filing help — and ATF-compliant NFA engraving.
What to Bring to Your Pickup
A valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID showing your current address (Texas driver license or ID card and LTC if applicable). If your ID address is out of date, bring a supporting government document such as a vehicle registration, voter registration, or a hunting license. Military and first responders claiming the discounted fee should bring their credentials.
How Long Does It Take?
Plan on 15 to 30 minutes in the shop. That covers checking your ID, completing Form 4473, and running the NICS check. Most background checks come back approved on the spot. Occasionally the FBI delays a check for further review; that timing is set by the ATF and is outside our control, and we will keep you posted.
Serving Lufkin and East Texas
We handle transfers for customers across Angelina County and the surrounding area, including Nacogdoches, Diboll, Huntington, Hudson, Zavalla, Livingston, Crockett, Jasper and Center. If you are within driving distance of Lufkin, we can be your FFL.
