Section 1 · FFL Transfers
FFL Transfers in Lufkin, TX
The most common questions about receiving a firearm through our shop. Full fees, the step-by-step process and what to bring are on our FFL Transfers page.
What is an FFL transfer and why do I need one?
Federal law requires that all firearms purchased online or from out-of-state dealers must be shipped to a licensed Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) dealer near you. The FFL dealer — in this case, Rock House Firearms — receives the firearm on your behalf, verifies your identity, runs the required ATF background check, and releases the firearm to you once you’re cleared. You cannot legally have a firearm shipped directly to your home from an online retailer.
How much does an FFL transfer cost?
Our transfer fees are straightforward and competitive: $30 for a standard transfer and $20 for military and first responders — valid ID or credentials are required at pickup. Suppressors shipped to us from another dealer are $40 on a Form 4473 transfer ($30 for military and first responders) or $50 on a traditional ATF Form 4, which includes your electronic Form 4 with fingerprints and photo taken in our shop. Short-barreled rifles and other NFA items transferred on a Form 4 are $50. Anything you buy from our own online store and pick up here has no transfer fee. Full details are on our FFL Transfers page.
How do I have a firearm shipped to Rock House Firearms?
When purchasing a firearm from an online retailer, you’ll be asked to provide your FFL dealer’s information during checkout. Simply give them our FFL license number 5-75-005-07-8F-42432 and our address, 3233 FM 2108, Lufkin, TX 75901. The retailer will ship directly to us. We recommend calling or emailing ahead of time so we’re expecting your transfer.
How long does the transfer process take?
Once the firearm arrives at our shop we’ll contact you immediately. When you come in to pick it up, the process typically takes 15–30 minutes — this includes verifying your identity, completing ATF Form 4473, and running your NICS background check. Most background checks are approved instantly. In some cases the ATF may delay or require additional review, which is outside our control.
What do I need to bring when I pick up my transfer?
Bring a valid government-issued photo ID — a Texas driver’s license or state ID is preferred. If you’re claiming the military or first responder discount, please also bring proof of service or credentials. You’ll complete ATF Form 4473 and pass a NICS background check before we can release the firearm.
Can you receive NFA items like silencers?
Yes — Rock House Firearms holds an active Special Occupational Tax (SOT) designation under the National Firearms Act, which authorizes us to process NFA item transfers including silencers and SBRs. Since the ATF’s updated guidance of October 9, 2026, you can take a suppressor home on a standard Form 4473 and NICS check — same day if it is in stock — or choose the traditional electronic Form 4 with fingerprints and photo taken here ($0 tax). Which route you use is up to you. Suppressors bought from us have no transfer fee; suppressors shipped to us from another dealer are $40 on a 4473 ($30 for military and first responders) or $50 on a Form 4. See How to Buy a Suppressor for both routes, or contact us to get started.
Section 2 · Ordering Online
Buying Firearms & Gear Online
How ordering from our live-inventory web store works, from checkout to pickup.
How does buying a firearm from your website work?
Browse our online shop and add items to your cart just like any other online store. At checkout you’ll complete your purchase, and for firearms you’ll select our Lufkin store or your favorite local FFL as the pickup location. We’ll contact you when your order is ready and you’ll come in to complete the ATF paperwork and background check before taking possession of the firearm. The full walkthrough is on our How to Buy a Gun Online in Texas page.
Do you ship firearms directly to customers?
No — federal law requires all firearms to be transferred through a licensed FFL dealer. Firearms purchased on our website must be picked up in person at our Lufkin shop, or at the FFL you choose at checkout, after completing the required ATF background check. Non-firearm items such as accessories, parts, and ammunition can be shipped directly to your address.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards online. In-store we accept cash, credit, and debit. Please note that some payment processors restrict firearm-related transactions — if you experience any issues at checkout please contact us directly and we’ll work with you to complete your purchase.
How current is your online inventory?
Our inventory is connected directly to our distributors and updates automatically every 20 minutes. If an item shows as “In Stock” on our website it should be available to order. In the rare event of a stock discrepancy we’ll contact you immediately with options.
