FFL Transfers
What is an FFL transfer and why do I need one?
Federal law requires that all firearms purchased online or from out-of-state dealers must be shipped to a licensed Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) dealer near you. The FFL dealer — in this case, Rock House Firearms — receives the firearm on your behalf, verifies your identity, runs the required ATF background check, and releases the firearm to you once you’re cleared. You cannot legally have a firearm shipped directly to your home from an online retailer.
How much does an FFL transfer cost?
Our transfer fees are straightforward and competitive:

How do I have a firearm shipped to Rock House Firearms?
When purchasing a firearm from an online retailer, you’ll be asked to provide your FFL dealer’s information during checkout. Simply provide them with our FFL license number 5-75-005-07-8F-42432 and our address at 3233 FM 2108, Lufkin, TX 75901. The retailer will ship directly to us. We recommend calling or emailing us ahead of time so we’re expecting your transfer.
How long does the transfer process take?
Once the firearm arrives at our shop we’ll contact you immediately. When you come in to pick it up, the process typically takes 15–30 minutes — this includes verifying your identity, completing ATF Form 4473, and running your NICS background check. Most background checks are approved instantly. In some cases the ATF may delay or require additional review, which is outside our control.
What do I need to bring when I pick up my transfer?
You’ll need to bring a valid government-issued photo ID — a Texas driver’s license or state ID is preferred. If you’re claiming the military or first responder discount, please also bring proof of service or credentials. You’ll be required to complete ATF Form 4473 and pass a NICS background check before we can release the firearm.
Can you receive NFA items like silencers?
Yes — Rock House Firearms holds an active Special Occupational Tax (SOT) designation under the National Firearms Act, which authorizes us to process NFA item transfers including silencers and SBR’s. NFA transfers involve additional ATF paperwork and a waiting period. Contact us for details on how to get started with an NFA transfer.
Ordering Online
How does buying a firearm from your website work?
Browse our online shop and add items to your cart just like any other online store. At checkout, you’ll complete your purchase. For firearms, you’ll select our Lufkin store or your favorite local FFL as your pickup location. We’ll contact you when your order is ready and you’ll come in to complete the ATF paperwork and background check before taking possession of the firearm.
Do you ship firearms directly to customers?
No — federal law requires all firearms to be transferred through a licensed FFL dealer. Firearms purchased on our website must be picked up in person at our Lufkin shop after completing the required ATF background check. Non-firearm items such as accessories, parts, and ammunition can be shipped directly to your address
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards online. In-store we accept cash, credit, and debit. Please note that some payment processors restrict firearm-related transactions — if you experience any issues at checkout please contact us directly and we’ll work with you to complete your purchase.
How current is your online inventory?
Our inventory is connected directly to our distributors and updates automatically every 20 minutes. If an item shows as “In Stock” on our website it should be available to order. In the rare event of a stock discrepancy we’ll contact you immediately with options.
Gunsmithing Services
How do I request a quote for a gunsmithing service?
Visit our Services page and fill out the quote request form. Describe your project, the firearm make and model, and the service you’re interested in. We respond to all quote requests within 24 hours. Photos of your firearm help us give you the most accurate estimate.
How long do gunsmithing services take?
Turnaround times vary by service and current workload. As a general guide: Laser engraving is typically 3–5 business days. Stippling is usually 5–7 business days. Cerakote and Hydrodip typically take 2–4 weeks depending on complexity and pattern. We’ll give you a more specific timeline when we confirm your quote.
Do I need an appointment to drop off my firearm?
No appointment is required — walk-ins are welcome during store hours. However we recommend getting a quote approved first so we can confirm the scope of work and timeline before you make the trip. Simply bring your firearm and any reference photos or color samples you have in mind.
Can you work on any firearm brand?
Yes — our gunsmithing services are not brand specific. We work on handguns, rifles, shotguns, and most firearm platforms regardless of manufacturer. If you have a question about a specific model please contact us before dropping it off and we’ll confirm we can accommodate it.

Where are you located and what are your hours?
We are located at 3233 FM 2108, Lufkin, TX 75901. Our store hours are listed on our Contact page. Walk-ins are always welcome during business hours.
Do you buy or trade used firearms?
No — at this time Rock House Firearms does not purchase or accept trade-ins on used firearms. We focus on new firearm sales and gunsmithing services. Check back in the future as our offerings may expand.
